Hampton Man Arrested After Hours-Long Standoff With Police

HAMPTON, N.H. — A 49-year-old Hampton man is facing multiple charges after barricading himself inside his home for several hours during a police warrant operation, according to a press release from the Hampton Police Department.
Jason J. Wagg was taken into custody at his residence on Ann’s Lane after officers, aided by the Seacoast Emergency Response Team and the Strafford County Regional Tactical Operations Unit, executed a high-risk search and arrest warrant. According to the release, police were aware before serving the warrants that Wagg had barricaded himself inside and had placed weapons throughout the house.

Officers had asked residents that morning to avoid the area near Ann’s Lane and Mill Road while the operation was underway, noting that a law enforcement presence staging near Hampton Academy posed no threat to the school.
Wagg was safely taken into custody with the assistance of the tactical teams, and the road closure lasted roughly four hours. No injuries were reported during the operation.
Wagg faces a lengthy list of charges, including felony domestic violence criminal threatening, domestic violence simple assault, breach of bail, disobeying an officer, driving after license revocation or suspension, resisting arrest, reckless operation, and a violation of bail conditions tied to two prior felony cocaine possession charges. Additional resisting-arrest charges were added following the incident, according to the release.
Wagg is being held on preventive detention at the Rockingham County Jail. It is not yet known whether he has retained an attorney. The case will be prosecuted jointly by the Hampton Police Department and the Rockingham County Attorney’s Office.
