Thomas Tuchel believes the Bayern Munich side is one of the best in Europe and understands the current pressure to fight for trophies.
The 49-year-old was unveiled as Bayern’s new coach on Saturday after Julian Nagelsmann was sacked earlier this week.
Tuchel has signed a contract with the German giants until 2025. He says he knows the responsibilities of the job and his aim is to win silverware for the club.
He said at the press conference: “They (Bayern) are one of the best clubs in the world. Their DNA is about winning and the way, but above all about winning.
“The responsibilities are clear and there are absolutely no misunderstandings. The team assembled by Bayern is one of the most talented and best teams in Europe. You can fight for every title with this team.
“It puts me under pressure, but at Bayern it’s about winning all the titles. We are here to win all the titles.”
Nagelsmann quit less than a week after Bayern lost 2-1 at Bayer Leverkusen.
With the defeat, Bayern lost first place to Borussia Dortmund, who are now one point above the current Bundesliga champions.
Nagelsmann, 35, joined Bayern on a five-year deal in July 2021 after spending two years at RB Leipzig, following a three-year stint at Hoffenheim.
Despite the sudden departure, Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn believes the club made the right decision in appointing Tuchel.
“He led Paris Saint-Germain to the final of the Champions League, he was successful at Chelsea from the beginning, he won the Champions League. That’s an impressive resume,” Kahn added.
“It shows development so we are delighted that Thomas Tuchel is now our coach.”
Bayern are next in action on April 1 when they face title rivals Borussia Dortmund.
They are still competing for the German Cup, and the quarter-finals against Freiburg are on the horizon.
Manchester City awaits in the Champions League with the two legs of the quarter-finals to be played in April.
