History is being rewritten in Australia as we type, where it is in the US Camille Herron she set the world record for a 48-hour run — and she’s still going!
At the time of publication, Herron had just surpassed the previous record of 411,458 kilometers (255,668 miles) in 2023. Sri Chinmoy 48 Hour Festival is held in Bruce, Australia. The previous record was set last month, in February 2023, by the United Kingdom Jo Zakrzewski in 2023 Taipei Ultramarathon.
With about two hours and 50 minutes left on the race clock, there are no signs that Herron will stop now. We’ll update this article at the end of the race with Herron’s target distance. You can also follow the conclusion of the race using the live timing system.

The race’s timing system and social media reports combined show Herron covering the first 100 kilometers (62 miles) in about 8 hours and 50 minutes.
She then reached 100 miles (161 kilometers) with about 14 hours and 41 minutes on the race clock.
Then, in 24 hours or halfway, she would run more than 238 kilometers (148.5 miles).
The 200-mile (322-kilometer) mark came and went with 33 hours and 35 minutes on the clock.
Halfway through, she took a 40-minute break, with several more eight- to 10-minute breaks.

The women’s 48 hour record has improved significantly over the past year. In addition to Herron’s record this weekend and Zakrzewski’s 411,458 kilometers (255,668 miles) last month, the latter of which is still too fresh to be ratified, Poland Patricia Bereznowska set a record of 403.32 kilometers (250,611 miles) in May 2022. UltraPark weekend 48 hours in her homeland.
With this performance, Herron continues to cement his place in ultrarunning history. She is already the current world record holder for 50 miles, 100 miles and 24 hours.
As with all such records, the official distance and result are unofficial until ratified by the world governing bodies.
