After another triumphant weekend at the box office, the sports drama brought in $12 million in 75 markets. This brings its global box office total to a remarkable $224.3 million, with international markets contributing $96.6 million of the total. Despite dropping 50% during its third week in theaters, the film destroyed previous installments in the spin-off series. Beliefthe first entry in a new story, grossed a total of $173.5 million globally Creed II rounded out its streak with a worldwide total of $213.5 million.
In what can only be described as an epic win Michael B. JordanAs a directorial debut, the film made good on its $75 million budget. Without a doubt, Creed III impressed critics and audiences alike with his renewed take on Rocky’s resilience mantra “It’s not how hard you hit, it’s how you can take a hit and keep going.” The film follows the story of newly retired Adonis Creed (Jordan) who is at the height of his fame and fortune until his childhood best friend Damian Anderson (Jonathan Majors) – now steeped in revenge – threatens to uproot his life after a heavy prison sentence.
What themes are explored in ‘Creed III’?
Rather than choosing to compete with the underexplored themes of the rest of the chapter, Jordan’s offering boldly tackles the darker themes of guilt, forgiveness, and trauma. In many ways, it led to this Creed III even more relevant to its time with the world outside the theater reflecting a similar temperature, which is exactly what it is Rocky did so well in his time. In fact, Jordan has previously highlighted the intentional depth behind his characters. “Creed 3 it’s not just your typical boxing movie,” Jordan explained in the IMAX featurette. “We really wanted to take the emotional journey of the characters, put it in the ring and pay it off in a physical way.” Clearly, Jordan’s vision resonated with audiences with a solid score. of 96% of the audience on Rotten Tomatoes to show for it.
With the franchise’s new moves, Jordan has left plenty of room for growth and expansion, something that is almost certainly on the table. Following the start of the worthy championship, Jordan reportedly met with Amazon to discuss the possibility of a wider “Creed-verse” with a number of potential spin-offs on the big and small screen in discussions, according to Deadline.
