Russia and China want to disrupt the world order, NSC spokesperson says

Russia and China are trying to shake up the international order, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said Sunday.

China and Russia, Kirby said on “Fox News Sunday,” “are two countries that are fighting this rules-based international order that the United States and many of our allies and partners have built since the end of World War II.”

He added: “They would like to rewrite the rules of the game globally.”

Kirby said the United States will be watching closely what comes out of the much-heralded meetings between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin this week in Russia.

“They’ve stepped up their cooperation and relationship, certainly lately,” Kirby said of the two superpowers.

China recently unveiled a 12-point plan designed to end the Russia-Ukraine war. Kirby told host Mike Emanuel that the Biden administration remains suspicious of China’s intentions when it comes to this war.

“What we’ve said before,” Kirby said, “and we’re going to say it again today, that if we come out of this meeting, there’s some kind of call for a ceasefire, well, that’s just going to be unacceptable because it’s all going What needs to be done, Mike, is to ratify the Russian conquest to this day.”

Kirby said he hoped the Chinese president would keep open “lines of communication” with President Joe Biden and also seek Ukraine’s side of the story through talks with President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“We hope, and we’ve said it before, that President Xi will call and talk to President Zelensky because we believe the Chinese need to get the Ukrainian perspective here,” Kirby said.
