Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Mr. Adebo Ogundoyin has been re-elected to represent Ibarapa East State Constituency in the House of Assembly.
Return officer, prof. John Oladeji who announced the results of the election on Sunday in Ibadan, said Ogundoyin of the PDP scored 10,039 votes to defeat 12 other candidates.
He said APC candidate Aderounmu Adeola got 7,111 votes while Party of Accord candidate Oladeni Tunde got 2,724 votes.
“Ogundoyin who won the highest number of votes in the election in Ibarapa East State Constituency is hereby declared the winner of the election,” Oladeji said.
In his reaction, the president expressed his gratitude to the people of the constituency for re-electing him.
“Our people spoke with their voices. It is their victory, it is their decision.
“The people of Ibarapa East district of the state have once again given us their mandate, therefore I am delighted and happy.
“This is God’s work and it is wonderful in my eyes. Glory be to the Lord,” he said.
The Speaker added that voters have again shown their love for him, Governor Seyi Makinde and the Peoples Democratic Party with their massive votes
“This is a great sacrifice of our people. This is another trust shown to us by our people and party, and we will keep it again and see it as sacred,” he said.
Ogundoyin said this will be his third term as a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly.
“I am humbled and honored because another opportunity has come to me to serve my people and bring them more development and infrastructure.
“I won the elections in 2015, 2019 and it is another success story in 2023.
“My mission is to continue to provide quality representation to my constituents that will make their lives easier and more meaningful,” Ogundoyin said. (NAN)
