Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein arrived on Sunday for a three-day official visit to the capital of Belgium, Brussels.
The visit of Hussein and his delegation is part of their participation in the third session of the Council for Cooperation between Iraq and the European Union, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated.
Hussein will hold a meeting with all 27 ministers of foreign affairs of the European Union, INA reported.
Hussein will also hold bilateral meetings, including a meeting with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, INA added.
It is expected that the Iraqi minister, in addition to the energy issue, will also consider the vision of the new Iraqi government in terms of political, security and economic conditions.
Hussein has previously stated that his country is serious about strengthening ties with Europe and discussing the issue of illegal immigration.
Hussein also noted that Baghdad is willing to improve cooperation with Europe, especially in the fields of energy, trade, banking, transport, immigration and the status of Iraqis in the European Union.
