The first round of the 2023 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament certainly lived up to the name “March Madness.”
College hoops fans can prepare for an exciting start to Round 2 as the final 32 teams battle it out for a spot in the Sweet 16.
Saturday began with No. 5 San Diego State making the Sweet 16 in a dominant win over then-No. 13 Furman in the South Region. Meanwhile, No. 5 Duke’s is looking for its 11th straight win against No. 4 Tennessee.
The evening schedule is packed with exciting matchups, starting with No. 1 Kansas taking on No. 8 Arkansas, before No. 15 Princeton faces No. 7 Missouri.
Later in the evening, No. 1 Houston will have to survive No. 9 Auburn with its star running back Marcus Sasser playing through a groin injury that he re-aggravated in the win over No. 16. Northern Kentucky.
A trio of exciting games round out the night as No. 2 Texas takes on No. 10 Penn State at 7:45 PM in the Midwest, No. 2 UCLA takes on No. 7. Northwestern at 8:40 p.m. in the West Region, and No. 1 Alabama takes on No. 8 Maryland at 9:40 PM ET.

This game was fast-paced from the jump, but no play shined in the first few minutes like this great street-oop by the Vols.
Nothing but the net
Despite the deficit, Duke found a way with a 7-0 run to take the lead nine minutes into the first half.
The Volunteers went on a big run of their own to end the half, closing on a 14-2 run to take a six-point lead into halftime.

San Diego State’s Darrion Trammell threw a beautiful lob to Keshad Johnson, who threw down a two-handed dunk down the lane.
Running rampant
The Aztecs turned a tight game into a dominant first half, using solid defense and a fast-paced offense to go on an 18-1 run.
The Aztecs led 39-25 at halftime.
