If the Phillies make the playoffs, they will play their first round series on the road. They will have to advance to the divisional round if they plan on playing playoff baseball in Philadelphia.

The wild card series will air on ESPN on television but on radio, the local guys will still get to call games on the Phillies Radio Network.

We know Scott Franzke will be there, but will his broadcast partner Larry Andersen join him in either St. Louis, Atlanta or New York? He significantly trimmed down his schedule in 2018 and has only called home weekend games this season. A combination of Michael Bourn, Erik Kratz, Kevin Stocker and Chad Durbin have filled in for Andersen both on the road and during Phillies weekday home games.

In a recent interview he 94 WIPAndersen confirmed that he will travel to call Phillies playoff games with Franzke.

Andersen, 69, is in his 25th season as a broadcaster with the Phillies. He and Franzke have been paired in the booth since the latter joined the Phillies broadcast team in ’06.

Franzke recently told Phillies Nation’s Tim Kelly that his favorite part about doing radio is being able to call games in October.

“I was really spoiled early in my career,” Franzke said. “And I’ve been waiting to experience that again, and hopefully it’s coming soon.”

Many of Franzke and LA’s most memorable calls have happened in the postseason, ranging from Matt Stairs’ pinch hit home run in the 2008 NLCS in Los Angeles to Geoff Jenkins’ leadoff double in Game 5 of the World Series.

It’s been 11 years, but if the Phillies take care of business over the next two weeks, there’s a chance the beloved Phillies radio pairing could add to their catalog of memorable postseason calls.
