CHICAGO – A man was shot and killed as he drove through the Bronzeville neighborhood last night on the city’s south side.
The incident happened a little after 8:00 pm last night in the 4800 block of S. Wabash Avenue in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the city’s south side, just down the street from DuSable Academy High School.
Police said a 35-year-old man was driving southbound on Wabash Avenue when someone fired shots from another car. In that area, Wabash Avenue is a two-lane road and we’re still not clear if this was another rolling shoot-out or if the man was shot from people sitting in a parked car.
After he was shot, the victim’s car hit several parked vehicles along the side of Wabash Avenue before coming to a stop. The man was transported by the Chicago Fire Department to the University of Chicago Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
There is no one in custody.
Area One detectives are investigating.
